Summit's Matthew Maton Records US#1 9:03 2 Mile

Summit High School Standout, Matthew Maton, ran his second track meet of the year at the San Francisco Distance Carnival. He won the two mile run in a time of 9:03.73 - a nation leading time for the full two mile run. His time would convert to just over 9:00 and 8:23.6 for 3000m, only five seconds off of his personal best. He did this alone as the second place finisher crossed the line in 9:35.

With Maton competing out of state and unattached, controversy came quickly. While the credibility of the article is unknown, a Texas Running Post entry stated that Maton will not be running for Summit for the remainder of his senior season. While it is unclear as to what spurred this situation, it is clear that Maton will be running remarkably fast for the remainder of high school career before he leaves for Eugene to compete for the Ducks starting in the fall of 2015.
