Grant Fisher, competing on his future home track in Palo Alto at Stanford University in the Payton Jordan Invitational's 1500 meter on Saturday, ran the fourth fastest time ever in United States history by a high school prep with his 3:42.89 7th place performance! A four second improvement from his 1500 meter race last weekend also against collegiates and post-collegiates, the nation's top returning miler is in strong position to join a short list by season's end of sub 4 minute high school milers.

Fisher ironically is not the national leader in the 1500 meter run with that time as Matthew Maton just two weeks ago at the University of Oregon posted a US #3 all-time performance of 3:42.54 at the Oregon Relays against pros and collegiates as well. Maton and Fisher are behind an incredible top two of names between Jim Ryun and Alan Webb! The former long-time high school record holder in Ryun and the current record holder in Webb. Can Maton and Fisher join their historic sub 4 club as well? Potentially head to head at the adidas Dream Mile on June 13th in New York City? We shall see!

Christina Aragon US #5 4:16.36! Where did that come from?!

Watch Aragon's Race on FloTrack!

Maybe an even more impressive and definitely surprising high school performance at the college and pro meet at Stanford came in section 3 of the women's 1500 meter run with two high school girls in Katie Rainsberger from Colorado and Christina Aragon from Montana competing. Rainsberger, the nation's fastest returning miler from 2014 (4:41 PR), posted a solid 1500 time in 4:23.28, but shocking everyone was Aragon in finishing nearly 7 seconds ahead of her in the same section with a US #5 all-time performance of 4:16.36! The time converts to a 4:36 mile for Aragon, who has a mile personal best of 4:44 from win at Golden West last June. Only the likes of Mary Cain, Alexa Efraimson, Elise Cranny, and Jordan Hasay have ran faster in United States history than the Billings (MT) junior Aragon.
