Cavalier Cross Country Sweeps Conference Awards

PORTLAND, Ore.--Concordia distance runners Charles Cummings and Linsie Michels earned Cascade Collegiete Conference Runner of the Week honors after performances at the Western Oregon Invite last Friday.

 

Cummings (Jr., Yakima, Wash.) was named the CCC Male Runner of the Week after helping lead the Cavaliers to a third-place finish at the Western Oregon University Summer’s End Invitational on Aug. 29. Cummings covered the 8,000-meter course in 25:24 to finish eighth overall and first among the Concordia contingent.

Michels (So., Salem, Ore.) earned CCC Female Runner of the Week honors after posting a seventh-place individual finish to lead all Cavaliers at the Western Oregon University Summer’s End Invitational. Michels, a former Oregon prep star who transferred from Concordia University in Irvine, Calif., clocked a time of 19:28 over the 5,000-meter course in her debut with the Cavaliers. Concordia finished third in the meet.
