Virginia Takes Long Jump National Rankings By Storm At St. Christopher's Invitational

Two Virginia studs jumped the U.S. No. 1 and U.S. No. 2 marks on Friday at the St. Christopher's Indoor Track & Field Invitational.

Potomac Senior High School's Donovan Louis jumped 24 feet, 3.25 inches for a new U.S. No. 1 mark. Only an inch behind him was Saint Christopher`s Frank Royal, who flew for a jump of 24-2.25.

The previous U.S. No. 1 mark -- now the U.S. No. 3 mark -- was held by Mason Freeman from Gilman School in Maryland. Freeman's jump of 23-7 had been the nation-leading mark since the Frostbite Invitational on December 22.

Also competing at the St. Christopher's Indoor Track & Field Invitational and finishing third was
Centreville senior Caden Billak, whose 23-2 mark tied him with the U.S. No. 6 mark. Virginia athletes now hold four of the top 10 spots in the nation in the boys long jump.

Louis should see a nice bump in the MileSplit 50 rankings as well after his U.S. No. 1 performance in the long jump and 6.55 in the 55m sprint to place third. Last week he jumped from 13th to 14th without hitting any PRs.
