The Mac Wilkins Throws Center in North Portland will hold its first major competition, exclusively for throwers, on Sunday, May 31.
The inaugural Spring Fling will be open to high school, college and open competitors in all four throwing events – shot put, discus, javelin and hammer, for men and women. High school and international weights will be thrown.
Weigh-in begins at 10 a.m., competition at 11.
Entry fee is $10 for the first event, $5 for additional events.
A number of other competitions are scheduled for June:
Friday June 5 – Border Bash, Washington versus Oregon high school throwers
Saturday June 6 – Age-group
Monday June 8 – Mac Wilkins Invitational, elite competition in DT and Ham
Saturday June 13 – Portland Throws Festival
Tuesday June 16 – All-comers
Tuesday June 23 – Pre-Nationals, Junior and Senior divisions
The center is located on N.E. 33rd Drive, 1 mile north of Columbia Boulevard, not far from the Portland airport and Concordia University.
