Day One: BC High School Multi-Events Provincial Championship

Day 1 brought a lot of action at the BC Multi-Events Championship and the great weather didn't hurt! Day 2 kicks off tomorrow at 9:30 am with the Junior Girls Long Jump and the Senior Boys 110m Hurdles.

But for now let's take a look at the standings after one day of competition. 

Senior Boys Decathlon 

Jack Marshall of Elphinstone currently sits in first with a day one score of 2945 points. He was 5th in the high jump with a mark of 1.62m, 1st in the long jump with a mark of 6.10m, 4th in the 100m with a time of 11.72, 3rd in the 400m with a time of 53.62 and 2nd in the shot put with a distance of 10.16m

Daniel Mandic of Vancouver College currently sits in second with a day one score of 2834 points. He was 10th in the high jump with a mark of 1.56m, 2nd in the long jump with a mark of 5.68m, 1st in the 100m with a time of 11.24, 1st in the 400m with a time of 53.01 and 9th in the shot put with a throw of 8.43m.

Rounding out the current podium positions is Henry Jagger of St. George's, with a day one total of 2814 points. He was 1st in the high jump with a mark of 1.74m, 5th in the long jump with a distance of 5.46m, 5th in the 100m with a time of 11.96, 2nd in the 400m with a time of 53.49 and third in the shot put with a throw of 9.30m.

Senior Girls Heptathlon

Amelia Kristen of Crofton House currently sits in first place with a day one score of 2934 points. She jumped 1.59m in the high jump, won the 100m hurdles by over a second with a time of 14.47 seconds, ran to a first place finish with a time of 25.49 in the 200m and threw a mark of 8.86m in the shot put. 

Grade 11 student, Marlena Tresnjo of Handsworth sits in second with a day one point total of 2655. She won the high jump with a mark of 1.68m, ran to a time of 15.87 in the 100m hurdles, 26.69 in the 200m and threw a mark of 7.35m in the shot put. 

The defending champion, Madison Gordon, currently sits in third place after a day one point total of 2647. She jumped to 1.59m in the high jump, ran 15.56 in the 100m hurdles, 27.57 in the 200m and won the shot put with a throw of 9.38m.

Junior Boys Octathlon

Enoch Lee of Surrey Christian sits in top spot after day one with a total of 2346 points. His day one marks are as follows: 6.10m long jump, 11.69 100m, 57.86 400m, 10.84m shot put. 

Thomas Wirtz of Pacific Academy sits in second with a day one point total of 2245. His day one marks are as follows: 5.71m long jump, 11.85 100m, 57.33 400m and 10.76m shot put.

Luc Primeau of Vancouver College and Zimo Liu of Walnut Grove Secondary are tied for third after day one with a point total of 2110 points. Primeau ran a commanding 400m with a time of 52.90, the next best time in the field was Liu's in 54.94 seconds. 

Junior Girls Heptathlon

Lily Stroda currently sits in top spot after day one with a total of 2860 points. Her marks were as follows: 1.62m high jump, 12.24 80m hurdles, 26.39 200m and 10.16m shot put.

Lily Stewart of Kitsilano sits in second with a day one total of 2674 points. Here marks were as follows: 1.65m high jump, 13.04 80m hurdles, 26.22 200m and 8.31m shot put.

Ava Eichhorst of Southridge sits in third with 2632 points. Here marks were as follows: 1.53m high jump, 12.67 80m hurdles, 27.31 200m and 10.40m shot put.

Grade Eight Champions

The Grade 8 boys and girls competed in the pentathlon and there are two newly crowned BC Champions! Ian Tyler of St George's took the boys title with a score of 2568 points. He won by just 68 points, with Acheleke Tateh of Holy Cross finishing second with 2500 points. Tessa Bell is your girls champion, winning with a total of 2523 points, with Jamie Armstrong of York House coming in second closely behind with 2464 points.
