UW Final Qualifier Results I Icebreaker Results I Updated WTF Records
The University of Portland women’s track team performed well last weekend at the UW Final Qualifier indoor and Linfield Eric Anderson Icebreaker outdoor meets, including a school indoor record by junior Cori Moore in the women’s 800-meter run in Seattle. Moore clocked a time of 2:05, which ranks No. 14 nationally and qualifies her for the NCAA Indoor Championship.
“Cori had an absolutely huge race,” women’s track & field head coach Ian Solof said. “To PR by three seconds in an 800 is not easy. She ran a tough, competitive race, as she has done all indoor season, and got the job done.”
Other highlights from the indoor meet on the women’s side came from Dana Morgan and Lyndy Davis with a PR’s in the mile at 4:51 and 5:03, respectively. Natalie Hemphill and Sifrash Ademe both posted PR’s in the 3,000 with times of 9:39 and 9:41, respectively.
At the Linfield outdoor meet, freshman Kiyah Williams won the 100-meter hurdles (14.96) and finished second in the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.96). Sophomore Marit Tegelaar won the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:43.42, while the 4x100 women’s relay team finished fourth with the program’s best time in six years (50.70).
“This was a great weekend for us all around,” Solof said. “Both meets had big performances and some breakthrough running. Our sprint crew had their best meet in years and most of our distance runners are doing an excellent job.”
