The athletes will be competing for the right to participate in the 2009 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships, which will be held at Hasley Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad on July 31st and August 1st & 2nd (Pan Am Junior Championships). Curtis Beach, the decathlon wunderkind from New Mexico, goes for another decathlon record when the U.S. Juniors Championships open on Thursday morning at the University of Oregon in Eugene.
Like most talented athletes, Anna Jelmini, CA, began her sporting career in multiple sports. She began throwing early, beginning with the shot put in 4th grade and the discus in 5th grade, but she also participated in volleyball, swimming, basketball, softball, and yes, even cross country. Now she's the top prep Discus athlete of all time and the 2nd best shot putter in prep history. She's not done...
