Brandon Miller had one more race left in his high school career.

He wasn't about to leave anything out on the track.

Making up ground over the last 50 meters, the Fenton (MI) High School graduate nearly dropped a full second off his season best performance, winning the 200m boys championship at The Outdoor Nationals in Eugene, Oregon on Friday in a time of 20.49 seconds.

Miller had previous secured a best of 21.27 in June at his state championships.

That performance on Friday landed Miller, a signee of Grand Valley State University, a US No. 4 time to end the season.

He also defeated a stellar competitor in Jordan Anthony, a Tylertown (MS) High School junior who showed just how high the ceiling could be for his final season in 2022.

Along with Miller, Anthony was the performer of the day in the sprints, finishing second in the 200m in 20.57 seconds, a US No. 5 time. But that followed a prelims effort of 20.86, and those two performances all together were his first under 21 seconds.

Anthony was arguably his best, however, in the 100m, where he absolutely steamrolled toward a US No. 2 wind-legal time of 10.21 (+1.9) seconds.

Anthony leaves his junior season having not lost a single race across 11 finals.

He even defeated Jaylen Slade and Gavin Schurr in a high-profile race in June at the adidas Boost Boston Games, too.

On Day 3 of The Outdoor Nationals in Eugene, Oregon, athletes secured some impressive performances. Here are some of the notable action from the day:

  • In the girls 100m, San Antonio Reagan graduate and Oregon signee Jasmine Montgomery remained unbeaten in the 100m, winning with a wind-legal 11.44 (+1.6).
  • The Saratoga Springs girls set a new national record in the girls 4xMile, pushing to a new all-time best of 19:40.67. Niwot was second in 19:45.37.
  • The Niwot boys won the 4xMile in a time of 17:19.70.
  • A last-ditch lean by Millbrook's (NC) Dillon Leacock gave the North Carolina-based hurdler and University of Houston signee the boys 400mH title in a US No. 4 time of 52.29 seconds. His performance went down to the thousandth of a second against Tamaal Myers, who also ran 52.29 to finish second.
  • Harding University High School's (FL) Akala Garrett won the girls 400mH in a time of 58.99 seconds.

  • Michigan-based quarter-miler Terrence Muex won the 400m with a new US No. 1 time of 46.13 -- re-setting the nation's top time by just a hundredth of a second. Two others were under 47 seconds, including two Texans: Garrett Kaalund was second in 46.88 and Khamari Terrell was third in 46.92.
  • Two girls broke 14 seconds in the 100mH. Oak Park's Nonah Waldron lowered her overall career best with a winning time and US No. 5 effort of 13.58 (+1.1) seconds.
  • The top six boys in the 110mH finals broke 14 seconds, including overall winner Ethan Exilhomme of Timber Creek (TX), who ran a US No. 2 performance of 13.51 (+1.5) seconds -- over in Seattle, Jerry Philippe also lowered the US No. 1 time to 13.45 seconds.
