PORTLAND, Ore. -- Artist Anderson will join the men's and women’s track and field coaching staff at the University of Portland as an assistant coach concentrating on sprinting, hurdling and jumping. Anderson, who enters his 15th year as a coach, is a former world class sprinter boasting personal records of 10.15 seconds in the 100-meters and 20.28 in the 200-meters.
Anderson, who prides himself on being friendly and approachable, says he is looking forward to working with head coaches Rob Conner and Ian Solof to continue to build a successful program focusing on well-rounded student-athletes.
A former collegiate standout, Anderson attended the University of Nevada-Reno where he competed under track and field coaches Jack Cook and Otis Burrell in the sprints and long jump.
As a track and field coach for the last fifteen years, Anderson has experience building successful programs from the ground-up. Previously he was head coach at the Oregon Episcopal School in southwest Portland. In addition, Anderson has spent time as a speed and conditioning trainer for both individuals and groups ranging from elementary students to professional athletes.
When not coaching for the Pilots, Anderson is a Real Estate Broker for John L. Scott Real Estate and is coach of girl’s basketball at Jesuit High School in Portland. He enjoys spending time with family and friends in California and Oregon.
