At the OSAA 6A State Championships, Mia Brahe-Pedersen made history.
On Friday, the Lake Oswego (OR) junior set two Oregon state records in the prelims with an 11.11 (+1.3) and 22.71 (+0.7).
Her success didn't end there.
Brahe-Pedersen captured a special moment in her high school career by making history in the 100m finals in Hayward Field on day two of the competition. As she crossed the finish line with another state title, Brahe-Pedersen was overcome with emotion as she embraced Oregon City's Sophia Beckmon who finished second in 11.32.
The official results indicated that Brahe-Pedersen clocked the No. 3 all-time performance in high school history.
11-flat.
The tears and hugs said it all. The Oregon sensation clocked a wind-legal mark to rewrite not only the state record book but the national one as well.
There are only two girls in high school history who have run faster. Briana Williams ran the fastest time ever by a high school girl with a 10.94 (+0.6) in 2019. Candace Hill won the Brooks PR Invitational in 2015 with a 10.92 (+2.0).
Later in the day, Brahe-Pedersen won the 200m title in 22.65 (-0.1) to earn her sixth OSAA State Championship title and lower her meet record.
