STANFORD, Calif. – A small contingent of the Portland Pilots men’s and women’s track teams competed at the Stanford Invitational at Cobb Track on Friday and Saturday.
Junior Cori Moore, who competed at the NCAA Indoor Championships (800m, 10th in qualifier) earlier this month, clocked a 4:28.57 in the 1,500-meter race.
In the longer distances, seniors Dana Morgan and Natalie Hemphill ran 16:53.46 and 17:18.66 respectively in the 5,000-meters.
Meanwhile, Senior Sifrash Ademe ran a 34:29.99 in the 10,000-meters competition.
“I think everyone is a bit disappointed, and a little tired from the indoor season, but it is a good sign when you don’t feel good and can still run the times we did,” said women’s head coach Ian Solof. “With a little more rest, everyone will be back to feeling good and running a lot faster.”
As the sole representative on the men’s side, Portland’s Alfred Kipchumba posted a 14:04.19 in the 5,000-meters.
Portland next competes at the Willamette Invitational in Salem, Ore. on Friday and Saturday, Apr. 2-3.
