12/3-Cedar Cliff gongs themselves. Saving best for the race.

PA's only representative at the inaugural Nike Team Championships in Portland, Oregon is the Harrisburg Harriers, aka, the Cedar Cliff Colts. At the opening ceremony, in an elite-athlete judged gong show format, Cedar Cliff actually gonged themselves. They'll toe it up against 20 of the best boys' teams in the US at 9:30 Pacific time at the Portland Meadows race track on the infield. The forecast is for a 100% chance of rain and the course is a European-style layout on the infield, which already was soft and muddy. The runners said they liked it. We'll see after the race. Check out Dyestat.com for race descriptions after every 1k on the front page, or the chat room live. On a race within the race, senior Pat Caulfield has a chance at qualifying for next Saturday's Foot Locker finals. The top two finishers from the Northeast Region receive automatic bids to the event because of the 12/4 conflict with the West Regional. We'll have complete coverage of Cedar Cliff's race, plus indoor results Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Pre-race quotes from Cedar Cliff coach Ken Roseberry, and #1 man Pat Caulfield.
