All eyes were on Galen Rupp as this race was set-up for an American Record attempt. Galen did his part, staying right on the rabbits for the first 7k before taking over the pacing duties. When Chris made his move Galen responded, closing fast enough to finish 4th in 27:10.74, also under the old record of 27:13.98.
