Men's All-Academic I Women's All-Academic
NEW ORLEANS, La. --- The University of Portland had four track and field student-athletes named to the 2010 United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Track & Field Team. Jared Bassett and Lars Erik Malde represented the Pilot men, while Dana Morgan and Cori Moore were honorees on the women’s side.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships (including preliminary rounds) in their respective event.
Bassett was a qualifier in the NCAA Outdoor West Preliminary in the Steeplechase and posts a 3.25 cumulative grade-point average (GPA). Malde was a provisional qualifier in the 5,000-meter Indoor after logging a time of 14:03.65. He posted a 3.69 GPA as an engineering management major.
Moore advanced to the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 800-meters after setting a school record and also competed in the NCAA Outdoor West Preliminary in the 800-meters. Moore posted a 3.56 GPA as an organizational communication major. Morgan set a provisional qualifying mark during the Indoor season with a 5,000-meter time of 16:36.47, the second fastest time in UP history. She is majoring in biology with a 3.74 GPA.
