USTFCCCA Poll
PORTLAND, Ore. - - - The University of Portland men’s cross country team is ranked No. 8 nationally in the week one poll as released by the USTFCCCA on Sept. 14, 2010. This ranking follows the Pilots first place finish at the Pier Park Invitational last weekend.
The Pilots were also ranked No. 8 in the preseason polls released by the USTFCCCA. The nationally ranked Portland squad features four All-WCC preseason team picks in junior Alfred Kipchumba, Redshirt Sophomore Jared Bassett, Sophomore Lars Erik Malde, and Sophomore Trevor Dunbar.
Stanford University sits atop the standings with a five point advantage over No. 2 Oklahoma State University. In-state rival University of Oregon came in tied for the No. 3 spot with Northern Arizona.
The Pilots will be in action again on October 3rd as they travel south down I-5 to Salem, Ore. to participate in the Charles Bowles Invitational at Bush Park. Portland is expected to run the ‘B’ team for this event.
