The Corvallis High School track team traveled to Kent, Washington on Saturday to compete in the Holder Relays at French Field at Kent-Meridian High School. The girls’ team placed eighth with a total of 36 points, while the boys went home with three points.
The girls were led by Malika Waschmann and Brigid Behrens, who each won their events. Waschmann won the 400 Meter run with an impressive early season time of 59.62, while Behrens scored in the 800 Meters with a 2:22.73 clocking. Behrens was followed in her event by Kindra Gutt, who came home with a time of 2:38.27, which was good for 12th. Behrens & Waschmann later teamed with Alyssa Rolen & Gwen McMorris to finish fifth in the 4 by 400 Relay with a time of 4:21.54. Sydney Snook placed 7th in the 1600 with a 5:37.54 clocking. Alyssa Rolen had a busy ay, as she placed 16th in the 300 Hurdles with 52.96 & finished 13th in the 100M Hurdles with 18.11. Kaylene & Malika Rust placed 12th & 14th respectively with marks of 31-06.6 & 30-11.5 respectively.
Henry Hall, a senior, had the best placement for the guys with his seventh place effort * a time of 4:38.02 in the 1600 Meters. Ben Kane added an eighth effort in the 800M with his 2:03.54 clocking. Nolan Sekemestrovick followed in 11th in the 800M with 2:04.63. James Abdoul ran in both the 100 & 200 Meter races placing 12th in the 200 (23.51) & 16th in the 100 (11.62).
