Stanford, Calif. --- A small contingent from the Portland Pilots men’s and women’s track teams made their way down to Cobb Track on Friday and Saturday to compete at the Stanford Invitational. Redshirt freshman Trevor Dunbar finished first in his section of the 1500m, clocking a 3:46.52. Senior Cori Moore added an eighth place finish in the 1500m, completing the race in 4:31.62.
Dana Morgan finished tenth, two places behind Moore, in the 1500m event with her time of 4:41.32.
In the longer distances, Marit Tegelaar and Natalie Hemphill ran a 16:49.03 and 16:53.17 respectively in the 5000m. Alfred Kipchumba was the sole Pilot runner in the men’s 5000m, finishing 12th in 13:57.76.
Jared Bassett added a fifth place, 9:00.36, finish in the 3000m steeplechase to cap off the Pilot effort.
Next up for UP is the Willamette Invitational on April 1-2 in Salem.
