San Lorenzo Valley Confirms for Centennial

The San Lorenzo Valley team of California has confirmed its entry for the Centennial Invitational, which will be held on Saturday April 28th in Gresham.    To give you an idea of one thing to anticipate one only needs to look at the results from the dual meet with Aptos yesterday.   Although only a regular meet it offered premier competition, which included two Foot Locker National Finals Qualifiers.   In the 1600 Meters Nikki Hitlz of Aptos ran an excellent 4:49 to top Anna Maxwell of SLV, who ran 4:50.   They both returned to face each other in the 800 Meter Run, where Maxwell turned the tables.  Maxwell zipped home first in 2:12, while Hiltz ran 2:14.   One just does not normally anticipate a loss with marks like that but such is the quality of Hiltz & Maxwell.

The pair also faced each other in the 4 by 400 Meter Relay, as each had the anchor.  Aptos had the lead after the last hand-off but Maxwell caught & passed Hiltz to earn the victory.   San Lorenzo Valley is coached by form Centennial runner Rob Collins, who will bring his quality team to run on his former track.   We look forward to the additional quality the SLV girls will bring to the meet, as the team has solid depth in the distances, which goes well beyond Maxwell.
