Bill Dellinger Invitational 2009

Welcoming a field spanning the distance from Philadelphia to Honolulu - a shade over 4,900 miles - the top-ranked cross country Men and No. 2-ranked Women of Oregon will host the fourth annual Bill Dellinger Invitational Friday at Springfield Country Club.

The No. 9 Alabama men's cross country team will travel to the west coast to compete at the Bill Dellinger Invitational being hosted by No. 1 Oregon. The meet will take place Friday at Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Ore.

The Villanova men's and women's cross country squads will have groups in action at two venues on Friday afternoon. A group of men and women will be in Eugene, Ore. to compete at the Bill Dellinger Invitational, while oither groups will travel to Lehigh for the Paul Short Invitational.

Two years ago today, the Men of Oregon claimed the No. 1 ranking and have not relinquished the position. That streak is sure to come to an end as the ninth-ranked Alabama men's cross country team defeated the Ducks by a score of 53 to 71 today at the Bill Dellinger Invitational.

The No. 5 Villanova women's cross country squad earned a huge victory at the Bill Dellinger Invitational in Springfield, Ore. Friday evening. The Wildcats scored 22 points, far surpassing No. 2 ranked Oregon who tallied 41 points. No. 14 Baylor finished in third.

  SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Villanova flew all the way to the west coast to run against the hometown Oregon cross country teams, and it paid off on a sunny afternoon here at the Springfield Country Club Friday afternoon.

After winning the Bill Dellinger Invitational in Oregon last weekend, the women's cross country squad moved up three places in the USTFCCCA Coaches Poll and are now the No. 2 ranked team in the country.
