From Crater's dominant season opener to standout individual performances across the state, here are the highlights from last week in Oregon cross country.
Crater Scores Near-Perfect Scores to Open Season
The varsity boys' and girls' teams from Crater delivered a near-perfect team performance to open their season at the 19th annual Bill Springhorn Classic.
In the boys' race, Crater scored a perfect 15 points to secure their victory, led by nationally ranked Garrett Faught. They also welcomed a new transfer from Nevada, Sawyer Hutton, who finished second with a personal record of 14:44.
Although Crater was missing a major piece in Ryder White, this performance should give them a lot of confidence heading into the Woodbridge XC Classic next weekend in California.
Boys Results
The girls also left last weekend with a confidence boost after their 16-point victory. Brynn Davenport led the way with an impressive 16:54, but the highlights were the 3-mile personal records set by runners directly behind her.
Adley Damon, Mari Dunlap, and Gwen Vanwart set massive PRs that should put Crater in the NXR Northwest conversation to start the season.
